Coach Tor

Tor originally became a certified personal trainer back in 1998 through the American Council On Exercise (ACE). He attended Simon Fraser University in the Vancouver area ten years later to further his knowledge in sports psychology and human kinetics. Since then he has amassed numerous certifications in the field of fitness, including becoming a certified personal training specialist through Canfit Pro, a personal trainer certification, as well as a Weight Training Specialist certification, both through B.C.R.P.A. He is also a certified TRX instructor and Crossfit level 1 coach.

My fitness philosophy

I take a balanced approach to fitness and promote functional movements and a healthy lifestyle. I push my clients to eat healthy whole foods, and encourage them to participate in sports as a means to maintain health and longevity. I like people to have fun and find that sports are one of the best means to exercise. It doesn’t seem like work when you are having such a good time.

My story

I began my love for fitness at an early age. As a high level athlete, I soon saw the dramatic impact that training can have on performance. It was my thirst for knowledge that led me to become a certified trainer. Once I began training others I realized how much I loved helping clients reach their fitness goals and find improved versions of themselves.

What is your favorite exercise?

Without a doubt it’s the clean and jerk. This move incorporates almost every muscle and is the basis for most exercise movements. It increases strength, flexibility, and explosiveness.

What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness is a tool to become the best you that you can be. It is a way to be stronger, run faster, jump higher, slim down, and most importantly, stay active and healthy as long as possible. It is through fitness that we are able to play like children from our childhood years until our last breath.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate and peanut butter Haagen-Dazs.

What is your favorite workout song?

That would depend on my mood and what my training is that day. This is a good one – Sir Mix-A-Lot, “I like big butts.”

What is your favorite sport?

There are so many that I love, but I would have to say that the most fun for me is surfing. It also has major health benefits involving strength, cardio, balance, and flexibility.

What is your favorite food?

It’s hard to pick one so I will go with sushi as it has it all.

What are my life goals?

To enjoy every day as much as I can. You only have one life, so don’t waste it.
