Coach Tor

Tor originally became a certified personal trainer back in 1998 through the American Council n Exercise (ACE). He attended Simon Fraser University in the Vancouver area ten years later to further his knowledge of sports psychology and human kinetics. Since then, Tor has amassed numerous certifications in the field of fitness, including becoming a canfitpro certified fitness professional, a weight training specialist, a certified TRX instructor and a CrossFit Level 1 trainer.

My fitness philosophy

I take a balanced approach to fitness by promoting functional movements and a healthy lifestyle. I push my clients to eat healthy, whole foods and encourage them to participate in sports as a means to maintain health and longevity. I want my clients to have fun and, from my experience, sports are one of the best ways to exercise. It doesn’t seem like work when you’re having a good time.

My story

I developed a love for fitness at an early age. As a high-level athlete, I saw the dramatic impact that training had on my performance. It was my thirst for knowledge that led me to become a certified personal trainer. Once I began training others, I realized how much I loved helping clients reach their fitness goals and discover improved versions of themselves.

Optimistic. Passionate. Joker.

What is your favorite exercise?

Without a doubt: The clean and jerk. This move incorporates almost every muscle and is the basis for most exercise movements. It increases strength, flexibility and explosiveness.

What does fitness mean to you?

Fitness is a tool to become the best you that you can be. It is a way to become stronger, to run faster, to jump higher, to slim down and, most importantly, a way to stay active and healthy. It is through fitness that we are able to play like children until our last breath.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate and peanut butter Häagen-Dazs.

What is your favorite workout song?

This usually depends on my mood and what kind of training I’m doing that day, but if I had to pick one it’s Sir Mix-a-Lot’s, “Baby Got Back.”

What is your favorite sport?

There are so many that I love, but I would have to say I enjoy surfing the most. It involves strength, cardio, balance and flexibility.

What is your favorite food?

I’ll go with sushi because it has it all: protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates from veggies and rice.

What are your life goals?

It’s my goal to enjoy every day as much as I can. You only have one life, so don’t waste it.
