Protein – The building block of our body
You can find proteins in the muscle tissue and organs as well as in the hair and skin structure – in fact, almost everywhere. But your body not only uses proteins to build tissue but also as an energy source. So, when you have a caloric deficit your body uses all energy sources available. To prevent an increased breakdown of proteins from the muscles during your diet, it is important that you focus on a sufficient protein intake.
How much protein does my body need?
In order to maintain a healthy body, you should eat at least 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight a day. Depending on your age, performance level, muscle mass and calorie consumption your protein need may be higher. The more active you are the more you should pay attention to your protein intake.
